Day 1: July 15th
We never intended to go to Sweden and Sweden seemed equally unprepared to receive us.
It was a day of absolute frustration and confusion with both the Danish and Swedish rail systems and ended in us unknowingly taking the first cruise line adventure in my life.
No one can read/understand the Danish rail tickets, not the citizens, not the employees, not even a crypto-linguist. Our ticket had 4 cities printed on it (only one of which we passed through), no indication of platform, train lines or times. The last leg of our journey was apparently by bus and not train. We were even forced to split up because the busses can only take one bike at a time which caused considerable confusion for we only had one ticket with both our names on it.
All was forgiven in the end when we frustratingly boarded our expensive ferry only to find our expectations completely blown away like everything that is potentially explosive in a Die Hard movie.
We had our own private cabin (read: luxury suite) that was either sound proof or all the adjacent rooms contained hearing impaired clientele.
We made the most of our evening, including duty free champagne. Baltic Sea is only one letter away from Baltic Sex.
